What Is The Coalition for Action for Health Workers?

Healthcare workers make numerous contributions every day and, as such, deserve recognition to match those contributions. Health workers are the backbone of the healthcare system and need support. For this, the government has announced the Coalition for Action for health workers. But what is it, and how does it help?

Priya Basil, the founder of the ModernTech review center, provides the needed guidance with the best REx-PN study plans, simplifying NCLEX registration in Toronto, etc., and is now taking a stab at what the Coalition for Action means for health workers.

Some Background

Over the past two years, health workers have faced challenges unlike ever before, starting from the pandemic. This has led to burnout, compassion fatigue, high turnovers, and absences. Hospitals have seen a significant shortage of nurses due to exhaustion from months of dealing with this situation. Cancer patients have had their surgeries delayed because hospitals don’t have the resources or staff to provide the care they need.

The Coalition for Action for Health Workers

Health Canada has established the Coalition for Action for Health Workers and will report to the Deputy Minister of Health. It will analyze and form solutions for health workforce challenges. They will first provide advice on worker retention, increasing the number of healthcare workers, addressing barriers, etc.

Specifically, the Coalition has been formed to deal with challenges such as:

  • Providing a platform to discuss complex issues related to the planning and management of health workers.
  • Finding innovative approaches to drive pan-Canadian action.
  • Outlining roles and responsibilities for key stakeholders.
  • Support equity and inclusion, and take actions in accordance with it, including indigenous people’s needs.
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations.

The Way Forward

The people selected for the Coalition bring comprehensive understanding to the table on issues regarding management, labour mobility, medical training, etc. It’s an important step forward to find ways to improve the health system and solve health workforce problems.
