Learning the Art of Juggling Nursing School While Working Full Time

Balancing a full-time job with nursing school can be extremely challenging. You might feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to help you juggle multiple tasks or prioritize one task over the other. More than one-quarter of Canadians already experience stress related to their everyday life, and with the stress of COVID-19, med school students have had it the hardest.

To help you calm down your frazzled nerves, we have some tips to help you balance and juggle nursing school with your full-time job and help you find some “me” time as well.

Time Management is Key

Learning how to manage your time efficiently is the most important thing you can do to juggle your job with nursing school. Plan out a schedule in advance and make sure you adhere to it. Always leave enough time at the end of every task to mentally prepare for another task.

Learn to Prioritize

Organize your tasks in the order of what needs to be done first. Complete your assignments before you start revising or studying. Focus on bigger projects that may require more time and avoid putting them off.

Only focus on what absolutely needs to be done during the day and leave the rest for tomorrow.

Take Out Time for Your Mental and Physical Health

Focus on yourself when you get the time; remember to take out time for yourself. Self-care is important, and that involves exercising regularly and doing whatever you like to do to relax. Whether it is meeting a friend, watching a movie, or taking a nap.
